How long have you been a member of Health Mates for and what inspired you to join?
I have been a member of Health Mates since January 2019. I joined when I had finished school and I was feeling lazy and not happy with myself. My brother Ibrahim motivated me to join to help me start training and this is how my weight loss journey began. My brother has been my inspiration since the beginning as he has always trained hard. He made me very excited to join as he wanted to help train me.
What is your training routine?
I started off training with my brother; he helped teach me different types of exercises and encouraged me to keep training even when he was unable to train. Ben J also helped create a gym floor program for me that includes training back, chest, legs and arms on separate days. I train 5 days a week and try to train with my brother but am also more confident now to train by myself.
What have you achieved so far and what are your goals for the future?
I have lost 17kg since I first started at Health Mates. Losing this weight has made me feel more confident about myself as I feel I have accomplished a lot. I look forward to training each day as I enjoy feeling more active. My goals for the future are to reach 90kg. I also would like to incorporate some more complex movements like a deadlift and a barbell squat into my training program.
What is your favourite muscle group to train?
I really enjoy training arms, I always feel stronger and confident after training this muscle group.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about starting exercise?
Just keep going as training brings you genuine happiness. So keep pushing forward and don’t let anyone bring you down!
